Is Squish safe for young children?

Accepted Answer

Each Squish is a single moulded piece with no eyes, buttons or small parts to come loose. Every design is independently tested to the EN 71 toy safety standards and carries the UKCA mark, as required by the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011. Squish is suitable for ages 3 and over, and we recommend adult supervision for younger children.

I've read some squishies release harmful chemicals. What about yours?

It's a fair question. A 2018 study by the Danish Environmental Protection Agency found some cheap squishies gave off high levels of solvents such as dimethylformamide (DMF). Every Squish batch is lab-tested for chemical migration (EN 71-3) and for volatile compounds including DMF, and we'll publish the test summaries at launch.

Does it smell?

Accepted Answer

No. Many squishies are heavily scented to mask chemical odours. Squish has no added fragrance, uses a water-based coating and is aired for at least 72 hours before packing, so it arrives with little or no smell.

What is it made of?

Accepted Answer

Slow-rise polyurethane foam, sealed in a soft-touch, water-based coating. It's free from phthalates, BPA and latex, and tested for heavy metals. The full materials sheet will be on each product page at launch.

Is it messy?

Accepted Answer

Not at all. There's no slime, glitter, water beads or sticky residue — nothing to leak, stain or get trodden into the carpet.

How do I keep it clean?

Wipe it with a damp cloth and a little mild soap, then let it air-dry. The sealed coating has no seams for crumbs to hide in. Please don't machine-wash, soak or tumble-dry it.

What if it tears?

Accepted Answer

The coating is stretch- and compression-tested for everyday play. If your Squish splits within 12 months through normal use, we'll replace it free of charge. If it's ever damaged, please take it away from young children straight away and get in touch.

Isn't foam bad for the planet?

Accepted Answer

Foam isn't biodegradable, and we won't pretend otherwise. So we design Squish to last for years rather than weeks, ship it in plastic-free, recyclable paper packaging, and are developing a take-back scheme so outgrown friends can be recycled responsibly rather than sent to landfill.
